Nuru Massage Prague
A nuru massage differs from everything else we offer in one respect: it does not happen on a massage table but on an air mattress, and instead of oil it uses a gel made from nori seaweed. That gel is the whole reason nuru exists as a separate category — it is thick, transparent and extremely slippery, which allows movement that simply cannot be done with oil.
The nori seaweed gel
The word "nuru" is Japanese for slippery, and the technique comes from Japanese bathhouses. The gel we use is unscented, dye-free and hypoallergenic; it washes off with warm water and leaves no film on the skin. It is warmed before the massage, so it never arrives as a cold shock.
How a nuru massage runs
It starts with a shared shower — with nuru this is not optional, because the skin has to be clean and warm. Then you move onto a mattress laid on the floor, your therapist spreads the gel over herself and over you, and the massage begins. She does not work with her hands; she massages with her whole body — forearms, thighs, stomach, back. The strokes are long, continuous and run the full length of the body at once.
The sensation is hard to describe, and clients usually sum it up by saying they "stop noticing where they end". That is exactly why a nuru massage is booked as an experience rather than as a way to loosen a stiff back — it does little for muscle tension and everything for attention.
Nuru versus body-to-body
These two get confused more than any other pair on the menu. A body-to-body massage happens on a massage table with warm oil, and part of it is a conventional hands-on massage. A nuru massage uses a mattress, nori gel, and full-body contact throughout. Nuru is more intense and more slippery; body-to-body is calmer and closer to a regular massage. If you are hesitating, body-to-body is the safer first choice and nuru the natural second step.
With two therapists
Nuru is one of the few massages where a second therapist genuinely changes the experience rather than just the price. There is plenty of room on the mattress and both work simultaneously from either side.
We offer nuru at Prague 1 on Opletalova and at Prague 2 on Lužická in Vinohrady; both studios have a mattress room with its own shower. Book by phone or WhatsApp, often for the same day. We do recommend booking ahead — each studio has only a limited number of mattress rooms.

Frequently asked questions
How long should a nuru massage be?
Sixty minutes is the standard. Thirty is really only a taste, because the preparation alone — shower, warming the gel, settling onto the mattress — takes several minutes of your booked time.
Is the gel safe for sensitive skin?
Yes. Nori seaweed gel is hypoallergenic, unscented and dye-free. It rinses off with plain warm water and leaves no greasy film.
What if I do not like lying on the floor?
The mattress is inflatable and soft — most people find it more comfortable than a massage table. If it still does not appeal, choose the body-to-body massage, which is done on a table.
Do I have to shower first?
For nuru, yes. The skin has to be clean and warm or the gel will not glide properly. The shower is part of your booked time.
